Olympic torch passes through Ayrshire

A number of local heroes will each carry the Torch for 300 metres as it travels along the streets of Ballantrae, Girvan, Turnberry, Maidens, Kirkoswald, Maybole, Alloway and Ayr and we want to see thousands of people cheering them on as the London 2012 Olympic Torch passes by their house, workplace, local shops and schools on its epic journey to London where the Games will open on 27 July.

The Torch’s South Ayrshire journey will include a visit to the iconic Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and discussions are underway with the National Trust for Scotland to ensure the Torch receives an appropriate Burns welcome.
