If you like gourmet cooking, you must try Jacques’ Table – a new dining experience in Ayrshire. This is not a restaurant, but a private house, where Jacques will prepare a sumptuous meal, ably assisted by Sylvia, where you feel like a guest at a dinner party. Go with a group of 8 to 10 friends, take your own wine and the “donation” as Jacques likes to call it, of £35 per head is fantastic value. You’re welcomed with a Kir Royale and canapes, followed by four courses, coffee and petit fours. When spread over several hours with great company, this is hard to beat. Jacques’ Table only opens a few days a month, but you will not forget your visit to sample Jacques’ French cuisine. It is a little bit out the way, allow 25 minutes from Ayr and take you sat nav!
There’s nothing better than the aroma of freshly ground coffee….
Pop into Roundsquare Roastery in Lorne Arcade, Ayr and the coffee shop Su Casa (they work together). Immediately the coffee smell hits you – and you’re hooked. Now you can buy freshly ground coffee in sealed bags. They grind to order, so you know it could not be fresher. Roundsquare is the only place in Ayrshire where you can buy this coffee, which is ethically sourced under the Direct Trade policy. ABBA members get a discount!
